The Straw Hats are holding strong in Netflix’s top 10 ranking, but if you’re looking for more anime adaptations to lose yourself in this weekend, we’ve got you covered. As great as “One Piece” season 2 was, not all anime adaptations are created equally, and there are plenty of duds out there. That’s why I’m rounding up the best of the best, so you can set sail on a new adventure (and, better yet, make the most of your ever-pricier Netflix subscription) this weekend.

‘Yu Yu Hakusho’

There are plenty of live-action anime adaptations that fall flat, but every once in a while, one comes along that truly captures the same energy as its source material. Netflix’s “Yu Yu Hakusho” is the best example I’ve seen yet. For those unfamiliar with this classic anime, it follows Yusuke Urameshi (Takumi Kitamura), a teenage delinquent whose sudden death sets him on a strange and thrilling path beyond the grave. Recruited as a Spirit Detective, he sets out to earn a second chance at life by taking on a series of trials, along the way getting roped into helping preserve the fragile balance between the human and supernatural worlds. With every fight, Yusuke grows stronger and gains a better understanding of his new abilities while adjusting to a reality far removed from the life he once knew.

‘City Hunter’

This live-action take on a hugely popular anime follows “sweeper” Ryo Saeba (Ryohei Suzuki), a private eye and hopeless playboy who cleans up the messiest problems Tokyo has to offer. After a drugged out assailant kills his partner during an undercover mission, Ryo teams up with his sister Kaori (Misato Morita) to get to the bottom of “Angel Dust,” the mysterious drug tying everything together. With Ryo’s athletic abilities and gun-slinging prowess, no challenge can stand in his way. Except staying away from beautiful women, of course.

‘Cyberpunk Edgerunners’

While it’s not a live-action adaptation, if you’re looking for the best anime Netflix has to over, look no further than its killer collaboration with CD Projekt Red and acclaimed Japanese animation house Studio Trigger to bring the world of Cyberpunk 2077 to life. The show follows a new character, a street kid named David (Zach Aguilar) who risks everything on a quest to become a mercenary outlaw known as an Edgerunner. It’s set within the same Night City as the game, where everyone’s obsessed with the latest tech and body modifications and late-stage capitalism has run amok. Along the way, he joins up with an eclectic group of outcasts trying to keep their heads above water in in a corporate dystopia.
