SAMSUNG has revealed a bunch of mega TVs including a massive 130-inch telly with bonus features for football fans.
Experts are predicting huge “TV upgrade effect” this year with the World Cup and the end of the typical 6-7-year replacement cycle.
Sales of bigger TVs surged during the pandemic – and now six years on industry insiders expect viewers will want to upgrade.
The centrepiece of Samsung‘s latest batch of TVs is the brand new 130-inch Micro RGB, which the firm says is “a monumental leap in scale and picture quality”.
Samsung’s Micro RGB TVs use a whole new technology to give viewers “lifelike” colours.
It does this by adopting red, green, and blue LEDs that each emit light independently, which is different to standard LED-backlit TVs that tend to use white or blue LEDs as a backlight.

AI also plays a huge part in the upgrades, including a special AI Soccer Mode Pro mode.
Samsung says this brings more match excitement to your living room with “AI-driven picture and sound tuning to stadium-level quality”.

“The year ahead will feature major global sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup, where users (and fans) want larger screens, better picture quality (4K/HDR), audio, and modern, innovative features to enhance the match experience,” industry expert Paolo Pescatore from PP Foresight told The Sun.
“Therefore, we should expect manufacturers to lead with a range of new TVs, aiming to recreate a ‘TV upgrade effect’.
“While new sales aren’t guaranteed, we are approaching the end of the typical 6-7-year replacement cycle for current TV sets purchased during the pandemic, which, combined with the World Cup, should drive a ‘TV upgrade effect’.”
Samsung has once again gone big on AI across all its products and devices, promising to “provide users with a true AI companion experience in their daily life”.
“Samsung is building a more unified, more personal experience across mobile, visual display, home appliances and services,” said Samsung boss TM Roh at an event in Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
“With our global connected ecosystem, and by embedding AI across categories, Samsung is leading the way to offer more meaningful everyday AI experiences.”
Samsung’s Vision AI Companion (VAC) uses AI technology to work alongside users as a full entertainment companion to enhance their viewing, dining, and mood, anywhere in the home.
This provides users with guidance on what to watch, what to eat, and what music to listen to, enhancing the overall TV experience in a way that extends far beyond simple viewing.
