London-based e-bike rental startup Forest has announced Octopus Energy as the official energy partner for its fleet of vehicles.
From the month of December, Octopus Energy will provide zero-carbon electricity to the 20,000 Forest bikes across London, in line with the mobility firm’s goal of establishing a clean transport network in the UK capital.
“Sustainability has been central to Forest since day one. We have always powered our fleet with zero-carbon energy, but this partnership with Octopus Energy marks a major milestone for our business,” said Agustin Guilisasti, founder and chief executive at Forest.
“As our official energy provider, Octopus will play a crucial role in accelerating our sustainability journey and we’re immensely proud to partner with another London-born company that shares our ambition to make sustainable transport easy, affordable and accessible for everyone across the capital.”
As part of the partnership, the almost 10,000 UK-based Octopus employees will be able to access Forest’s Cycle to work scheme, a programme that provides 30 hours of ride time per month.
Greg Jackson, founder and chief executive at Octopus Energy (pictured) added: “For anyone that has ever spotted me on my way to a meeting, you’ll know that e-bikes are far and away my favourite way to get around London. I could not be happier that we’re now powering Forest Bikes – bringing even more clean, green ways to travel to people across the city.”
