Fox Corp. sets launch date, pricing for direct-to-consumer streaming app

Fox Corp. has announced a launch date and pricing plan for its soon-to-be rolled out direct-to-consumer streaming application.

Fox One, the company’s new wholly-owned streaming service, will launch Aug. 21 and cost $19.99 per month or $199.99 annually.

Customers with a subscription will gain access to Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, Fox Weather, Fox Sports, FS1, FS2, Fox Deportes, Big Ten Network, Fox local stations and the Fox Network itself, the company said.

The announcement marks a major break into the streaming space for one of the largest providers of news, sports and entertainment in the country.

Fox is one of several legacy broadcast companies that have seen major tech-based streamers like Netflix, Amazon and Apple move more aggressively into the fight for audience share, particularly in the world of live sports.

Other major media companies like Warner Bros. Discovery, Comcast and Paramount have worked in recent years to retool their business models around streaming, given widespread investor concern about cord cutting and a dwindling advertising market for linear television channels.
