Christmas TV channels are coming back today

With Halloween and Bonfire Night still to come, many are questioning the extraordinarily early addition of GREAT! Christmas.

The Narrative Entertainment network is keeping those at home entertained with beloved Xmas films.

From Thursday September 4 all the way till January, screens will be showing a selection of the most hated and adored Christmas movies.

Freeview describes them as a “heart-warming seasonal channel with the best collection of Christmas movies on TV”.

GREAT! Player, available online, has also a vast selection of Christmas movies free to watch just one tap away.

So Christmas fanatics can experience classics like A Bride For Christmas, Candy Cane Christmas and Twinkle All The Way today.

Even earlier than last year…

The new comeback even hits one day earlier than last year when it came back to TVs on September 5.

Once again, the channel is totally free on Freeview, Sky and Virgin Media.

It’ll replace the GREAT! Romance channel for the rest of the year until early January.

Broadcasts will start bright and early on the Thursday at 8am, with romantic comedy Laughing All The Way.

The move comes amid a number of changes made by GREAT!’s owners Narrative Entertainment.

GREAT! Movies is being replaced on the same day GREAT! Christmas launches.

Instead, it’ll be called GREAT! Mystery with a wider number of shows and movies shown.

The firm’s children’s brand has had some changes too.

Pop Max has re-appeared on Freeview at channel number 212.

Meanwhile, Pop+1 has closed down on Freeview.

For those who want to watch Christmas films all year round, streaming services like Netflix offer a wide range which can be accessed at any point in any season.
