Thursday, Managing Editor Amy Spitzfaden-Both showed you an app that can help you fly to see your family without worrying about cancellation fees and delays. Today, Feature Writer Leanne Hays has the scoop on her favorite app that can help you connect with that family in the first place:

One of my favorite tools in my quest to fill in the gaps in my family tree, and find as many photos as possible of my ancestors on both sides is the Ancestry.com app. Whenever I have a few spare minutes, I check in on the hints from the app, which include census records, Find a Grave photos and entries, birth and death records, photos from other members, and much more.

My DNA tests also sync to the Ancestry database, and have helped me learn a lot more about my heritage. I’ve also gotten tests for both my daughters, and we all enjoy looking through the countries their ancestors came from, and learning more about the culture and history of those regions.

Who knows? Maybe, like my mother, you’ll find a cousin in Ireland to visit!
