If you hadn’t noticed, G-Shock is on a roll. First came the long-awaited GW-BX5600, then the Bamford London 5600 collab lit up watch Instagram, and now Casio’s gone back to its roots, properly back, with the Origami Series. I think it might just be the first must-have watch drop of 2026.

The idea is simple. Take one of Japan’s most recognisable art forms, origami, and translate it into a pair of classic G-Shock silhouettes. The result is a duo that feels thoughtful, cultural, and just different enough to stand out in a sea of collabs and colourways.

There are two models. The DW-5600RGM-1 comes in black with crisp white markings. It’s a classic G-Shock but with a graphic twist. The DW-6900RGM-5 flips that on its head, finished in white with black details. It genuinely looks like folded paper on the wrist, and it’s easily the standout of the pair – my personal favourite by a long way.

Both watches celebrate the creativity that comes from a single sheet of paper, elevated through the texture and strength of traditional washi paper. That influence runs through the whole design. The clearest reference is the dotted fold lines, referencing valley and mountain creases.

It’s very similar to the G-Shock Manga series, which was an instant sell-out last year.

Look more closely, and you’ll notice the bezel and strap have a subtle washi-like texture, adding depth.

Finally, a crane, the global symbol of origami, appears on both the LED backlight and the case back.

True to the craft that inspired them, both watches are made in Japan and arrive in special origami-inspired packaging. That’s a really nice touch that makes the whole release feel more special.

Both models are available now in the UK priced at £129, with US availability coming soon.
