Gemini AI Can Now Summarize Your Previous Discussions

Google’s Gemini AI can now recall past conversations, meaning you can ask Gemini to provide a summary of your past discussions on a topic.

“No more starting over from scratch or having to search for a previous conversation thread. Plus, you can build on top of previous conversations or projects you’ve already started,” Google says.

Last year, Google enabled Gemini to remember your preferences. The new feature takes a step further and remembers entire conversations. At times, it may even indicate when it uses past chats to generate a response. As with every other rollout, Google warns in a demo that summarized responses could go wrong and that users must “check responses for accuracy.”

If you don’t want Gemini to remember your chats, you can review, delete, or decide how long it keeps them, Google says. You can also turn off all Gemini app activities from the MyActivity tab.

Gemini’s new recall feature is currently available in English for Gemini Advanced subscribers on the web and mobile. In the coming weeks, it will be extended to more languages and Google Workspace Business and Enterprise customers.

Meta AI and ChatGPT also have similar features. Additionally, Google is rumored to be developing a Gemini-based AI agent, dubbed Project Jarvis, that can memorize your Chrome tasks and take action on your behalf, similar to Microsoft’s controversial Recall feature.
