Gemini, the assistant doped at Google AI, never ceases to invite himself into the web giant apps. After Gmail, it’s Google Docs’s turn on Android to benefit from its services. So far confined to the web version for paid users of workspace, Gemini therefore enters mobile. However, the tool is not accessible to everyone: one of the paid packages of Google Workspace (Standard Business, Business Plus, standard or more) must be subscribed.
A light mobile version of Gemini
Concretely, a new sparkling star symbol is now displayed in the Google Docs application on Android. Just touch it to reveal a panel at the bottom of the screen, in a messaging way, in which you can interact with Gemini. The key, practical functions such as the automatic summary of a document, the extraction of key points, or the answer to specific questions about the content displayed.
The system supports more than 20 languages, including French, Spanish, German, Japanese or Chinese. Google presents it as an assistant capable of saving time on a daily basis, whether to fly over a slightly long report in transport, ask a quick question before a meeting, or sketch a draft text after a brainstorming.
Be careful however: if Gemini appears on Android, he does not yet offer all the features of the office version. Image generation tools, writing assistance (“Help Me Write”) or creation (“Help Me Create”) are not yet available on mobile. This first version focuses on understanding and analyzing already existing documents.
The functionality is being deployed and will first appear in users who have activated rapid updates (Rapid Release). A larger broadcast to the so -called “Scheduled” areas is scheduled from July 2.
Google really wants to integrate Gemini everywhere, on all its platforms. In parallel, the company announced this week new planning functions in the Gemini application, such as the creation of reminders or the management of an agenda in the voice. The idea is really to make Gemini a versatile companion, present everywhere and ready to be of service at any time.
