Building off yesterday’s Linux 6.14 release, the GNU Linux-libre 6.14-gnu downstream is now available for this flavor of the Linux kernel that strips out support for hardware/drivers depending upon non-open-source firmware/microcode as well as the ability to load proprietary kernel modules and other tainted code.
With the GNU Linux-libre 6.14 update they’ve had to deal with the new AMDXDNA accelerator for Ryzen AI NPUs that requires new firmware binaries for operation. There are also other driver changes they’ve needed to deal with in their quest to pursue a free software kernel spin:
– Neutered blob-loading in new drivers hx9023s, amdxdna, tas2781 spi.
– Neutered blob names in dts files.
– Adjusted deblobbing of Intel avs, amdgpu, r8169, mt7996, iwlwifi.
– Dropped cleaning up of wl128x, removed upstream.
