Fintech group GoCardless has recorded its first quarter of profit, having operated in the black for the last three months of the financial year.

The company has not disclosed the specific unaudited figure, however, it will release the figures as part of its complete accounts for FY25, due to be released no later than March 2026.

GoCardless, which is used by businesses to set up and manage payments, has been eyeing a full year of profit for some time, vowing earlier this year to achieve profitability by June 2026.

“Reaching profitability is a huge achievement for the business and a clear signal of confidence for our customers, partners and team,” said GoCardless co-founder and chief executive Hiroki Takeuchi.

“It reflects the discipline, focus and strategic scaling we’ve delivered over the past 18 months. Now, we’re focused on turning this momentum into a full year of profitability and continuing to achieve our ambitious growth goals.”

The announcement follows the release of its 2024 accounts, which saw the firm report a 38% increase in revenue, which reached £127m, with total losses falling 55% to £35m.

As part of its efforts to cut costs and drive profitability, the group has reduced its headcount significantly over the past three years.
