Google has dropped the updated version of Gemini 2.0 pretty recently named Gemini 2.5 Pro Experimental. It is being hailed as the first model from the 2.5 family. As stated by Google the latest AI model will outclass OpenAI’s o3-mini in different disciplines. The release of the same has begun already and we will get to see the model being rolled out for more users in the future.

Google DeepMind CTO, Koray Kavukcuoglu shared in a blog post that the latest AI model by Google is not just a thinking model. An enhanced base model has been used to deliver better results in post-training and pack the model with reasoning capabilities. At this point in time, Google has not revealed the specifications of the model.
Nonetheless, the benchmark scores of the model have been shared online and the score was state-of-the-art )SOTA among models without any tool. As claimed, Gemini 2.5 Pro leaves OpenAI’s o3-Mini, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, DeepSeek R1, and more behind in terms of performance.
In addition, Gemini 2.5 also secured the top spot on the LMArena leaderboard. For those who are unaware of the same, LMArena is a user-based platform used by AI enthusiasts and developers to share their ratings for different AI models.
Google has also mentioned that the latest model takes the coding performance a level above and it can create ‘visually compelling’ web apps along with agentic code applications. The model also brings native multimodal support and a context window of one million tokens. All the developers can use the model via the Google AI Studio and the Gemini Advanced Subscribers can do the same with the Gemini app or web client.
