Google is making Gemini’s AI-based real-time video and screen sharing tools to all Android users for free.

The video tool enables users to show Gemini whats happening through their camera lens in real time. It also works for sharing whatever is on your screen too.

So, you can show Gemini your surroundings and get instant feedback from the generative AI assistant. If you’re sharing your screen, you can say things like “Gemini, tell me something I don’t know about this” for instant, contextual feedback.

📣 It’s here: ask Gemini about anything you see. Share your screen or camera in Gemini Live to brainstorm, troubleshoot, and more.

Gemini users on Android can tapping “Screen share with Live” within the Ask Gemini window.

The feature was originally released in March for Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 and others who subscribed to the paid Gemini Advance tier. Now, just a couple of weeks later, Google is making it free to all (via 9to5Google).

In a demonstration of Live Video, Google showcased how a user could show Gemini a homemade vase that had been fired in a kiln. The user then asks for suggestions for the best colour to match others in the collection, while also offering a mid-century modern look.

Gemini answers based on the sample colours it is shown in the video, and then answers a follow up about which of the two selected colours would “go better” with the existing vases.

Secondly, Screen Sharing is also ready to roll out to Gemini Advanced subscribers in March. This feature enables users to select “Share this screen with Gemini” and then ask questions about the contents, such as an item of clothing they may be shopping for.

In the example provided by Google, a user asks “what are some outfit ideas for these pants?” and Gemini answers by saying “These jeans have a cool, relaxed fit. For a casual look, you could pair them with a simple white tee or a fitted black turtleneck.” When the user makes a selection they could then ask what kinda of jacket will go with the ensemble.

Opinion

Gemini’s usefulness grows

Gemini is really coming in to its own as a genuinely impressive AI aide for consumers. The live voice chat feature is beyond impressive, Circle to Search is excellent, as is the ability to watch and summarise YouTube videos for you.

While the colour picker and outfit selector demonstrated today mightn’t be epochal, there are so many real world applications where individial users can use Live Video and Screen Sharing for purposes that matter to them.
