Google lifts the veil on the Pixel 10a, without showing everything

The Pixel 10a is now official. Google has just published a short 15-second video confirming the arrival of its new “affordable” smartphone, which will be available for pre-order from February 18 on the Google Store. The device appears in a blue shade tending slightly towards purple, a color that evokes other devices from the brand.

A familiar design to say the least

In terms of design, it’s difficult to talk about a breakthrough. The Pixel 10a takes up most of the lines of the Pixel 9a: same fairly visible borders around the screen, same general format and still two photo sensors at the back hidden behind a pill. The main development is located precisely in this location: the photo block is no longer raised. Where the Pixel 9a sported a slight “bulge” around its module, the Pixel 10a now has a perfectly flat surface, integrated into a flush cutout.

Apart from this change, the teaser does not reveal anything more. No technical sheet, no Price, not even a firm release date beyond the opening of pre-orders. The slogan — “ A phone with more in store, in store soon » — suggests that Google intends to reserve some announcements for later, perhaps on the software side.

If Google remains discreet, the leaks are much less so. A certification document spotted by the American operator Verizon, and relayed last December by leaker Evan Blass, painted the portrait of a Pixel 10a without much change. According to this information, the smartphone would feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED screen in Full HD+ definition, with an adaptive refresh rate of 60 to 120 Hz. A configuration strictly identical to that of the Pixel 9a.

Same observation on the photo side. The Pixel 10a would retain a 48 mpx (f/1.7) main sensor, supported by a 13 mpx (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle sensor, as well as a 13 mpx front camera. The battery would have a capacity of 5,100 mAh, with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage in the basic version, without microSD slot. Again, no notable surprises.

Several leaks also suggest the presence of the Tensor G4 processor, already used on the Pixel 9 and 9a, accompanied by an Exynos 5400 modem and UFS 3.1 storage. A possible improvement would concern the screen, whose maximum brightness could climb up to 2,000 cd/m², but without official confirmation. On the price side, the latest rumors are reassuring, at least in Europe. According to DealabsGoogle would not plan an increase compared to the Pixel 9a. The Pixel 10a would thus be offered at €549 in a 128 GB version and at €649 with 256 GB of storage, amounts which fit with the “mid-range” position claimed by this family. Still, we would have liked a downward adjustment given the technical sheet.
