Google is reportedly working on a new feature for its Photos app that could give users a fun way to transform their selfies into memes. The “Me Meme” feature is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and will generate digital art-style meme templates based on a user’s image. The upcoming addition is said to be still under development and is expected to roll out to Google Photos soon. Google Photos’ Upcoming Me Meme Feature

According to a report by Android Authority, the “Me Meme” feature was spotted during an APK teardown of Google Photos version 7.51.0. The publication claims the feature isn’t live yet and is currently unavailable for beta users. news Also Read: New Google Maps Change On Android Auto Fixes A Longtime User Frustration

As per the description discovered in the teardown, the feature will allow users to select a photo of themselves and combine it with a meme template to create AI-generated memes. The onboarding page reportedly includes the tagline – “Turn yourself or your family and friends into your favourite memes. Just pick a template, a photo, and enjoy – perfect for sharing to group chats and more.” news Also Read: Most AI Assistants Found Sharing Fake Or Misleading News, Google Gemini Leads In Errors: Study

The new AI tool appears to be designed for casual and social use, making it easier for users to generate shareable, personalised meme content directly within Google Photos – without relying on third-party editing apps.

Gemini App To Get Improved Voice Mode

Alongside the Me Meme discovery, Android Authority also spotted another upcoming feature – this time in the Google app version 16.42.61 – that focuses on improving voice input for Google’s Gemini assistant.

Currently, Gemini’s microphone shuts off if a user pauses too long while speaking. However, the upcoming update will reportedly include a “mic lock” option, allowing users to keep the microphone on and speak at their own pace without worrying about interruptions.

Still Under Testing

Both these features – Me Meme for Google Photos and the improved voice mode for Gemini – are still under testing and not officially confirmed by Google. It’s unclear when or if they’ll roll out publicly, as many experimental tools discovered in APK teardowns don’t always make it to the final release.
