The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be one of the most familiar – yet quietly interesting – foldables available in 2025.

Sticking quite closely to the blueprint laid out by last year’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold, this year’s entry is expected to retain the same design, weight, and thickness, while introducing small but meaningful upgrades, such as full IP68 protection, a new 48MP main camera, Tensor G5 smarts, and a larger battery.

Throw in talk of a possible price cut in the US and new Magic Cue AI smarts, and the Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be Google’s way of staying relevant in a market now seemingly packed with ultra-thin alternatives.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, from release date and pricing speculation to leaked renders and specs.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold release date and pricing rumors

Google previously launched its flagship smartphone collection in October, but things changed with the Pixel 9 collection – which included the rebranded Pixel 9 Pro Fold – and launched the range in August 2024.

It looks like Google is keen to continue with its new launch window, with rumors pointing towards a reveal on 20 August 2025, with the foldable expected to ship a little over a week later on 28 August.

Price-wise, most expect the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to offer something close to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s £1,749/$1,799 RRP, but there are whispers suggesting that Google could actually drop the price to $1,599 in the States.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold design and screen rumors

In terms of overall design, it’s expected that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will resemble its predecessor, and there have been numerous leaked renders that seemingly support this. That includes a complete render of the foldable provided by the eerily accurate @OnLeaks in collaboration with Android Headlines, which can be seen below.

That means we should expect a similarly premium foldable with flat, satin-finished metal edges and even bezels. On the back, it appears we’ll be getting the same metallic camera module on the rear, and it’s even set to be available in familiar shades of Obsidian and Porcelain.

That also means that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold isn’t expected to be any thinner or lighter than its predecessor. That was fine a year ago, but when we’ve now got foldables like the 4.2mm Galaxy Z Fold 7 and 4.1mm Magic V5, the Pixel’s 5.1mm width seems comparatively chunky.

It’s much more obvious when looking at weight, with suggestions that it’ll weigh the same 257g as its predecessor. The Z Fold 7 and Magic V5 weigh in at 215g and 218g respectively for comparison, so it’s quite a bit heavier if true.

What is impressive, however, are rumors that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will achieve a first for foldables: full IP68 dust and water resistance. That means that it’d be almost entirely dust and water resistant – much more so than the IP48-enabled Z Fold 7 and Magic V5.

With such a similar design, don’t expect huge changes to the screens on offer – but rumors do point towards some upgrades in this department. Though the internal foldable screen is said to once again measure in at 8 inches, the cover screen has jumped from 6.3- to 6.4 inches, suggesting Google has slimmed down the bezels to make a little extra space.

It’s also said to be a little brighter this time around, closely matching the Pixel 9 Pro’s 3000-nit peak brightness – though others suggest a lower 2050nit brightness on the cover screen, so it’s far from set in stone.

According to reports, the inner 8-inch OLED foldable screen will once again feature the square 1:1 aspect ratio of the Pro 9 Fold. However, there are claims that it won’t get quite as bright as the cover screen at 1,850nits. It’s also said to miss out on the higher 480Hz PWM refresh rate to reduce eye strain, rumored to be present on the rest of the Pixel 10 collection.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold spec rumors

When it comes to processing power, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is said to – unsurprisingly – feature the upcoming Tensor G5 chipset. Google tends to launch a new Tensor chipset on a yearly basis alongside its latest flagships, and given that the G4 was found in the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and the rest of the Pixel 9 collection, it’s essentially confirmed.

Rumors claim that the 3nm chipset should provide some improvements to everyday performance, but given the gap in performance between previous Tensor chipsets and equivalent Snapdragon chips, don’t expect it to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

It is said to be paired with a generous 16GB of RAM as standard, and a new 1TB storage option is allegedly on the way alongside the same 256- and 512GB variants from last year.

Elsewhere, it seems that there will be minor tweaks to the camera setup – though most of the attention falls onto the main sensor. It’s said that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will ship with a new 48MP camera with a Samsung GN8 sensor – though that is the same as in the Pixel 9a, so don’t expect truly pro-level camera results – and identical 10.8MP telephoto and 10.5MP ultrawide lenses.

Google does utilise its camera tuning smarts to improve the quality of images taken across its smartphone range, but it can’t work literal magic – there will almost certainly be downsides to using more mid-range sensors like those.

It’s also a given that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will ship with Android 16, especially given that the latest Android update is already available on the likes of the Z Fold 7. While much of the Android 16 update is focused on security and improving other, not-so-sexy features, there is one rumored feature coming to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold that could leave other foldable manufacturers jealous.

What was previously rumored as Pixel Sense will actually be known as Magic Cue when it launches on the Pixel 10 range. It’s not a replacement for Gemini though; instead, it’s designed to work alongside the assistant in a more passive way. Gemini will still need to be activated for queries, but Magic Cue will monitor your screen and suggest information or actions based on what you’re doing.

According to the rumor, that should allow Magic Cue to, say, provide your flight number in WhatsApp by pulling that information from your email confirmation in Gmail automatically. It’s also said to suggests links to other apps where you can complete related actions. It’s small, but it should be very helpful in day-to-day use.

Battery life is also said to get an uptick, with rumors pointing towards the use of a larger 5015mAh battery – 7% larger than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s 4650mAh cell, and 9% larger than the Z Fold 7’s 4400mAh alternative. That’s paired with slightly faster charging, though at just 23W compared to 21W, it’s unlikely that consumers will notice much difference.

Opinion

Keeping the same look and feel as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is both a blessing and a curse; it was a very premium-looking foldable in 2024, but in 2025 against much slimmer and lighter alternatives, Google might struggle to garner interest – especially when other upgrades, like battery life, processing power and screen tech – are all best described as marginal.

The rumor that the phone will use the same sensor as the Pixel 9a is a particular worry, especially in a year where Samsung has used the same 200MP sensor as its flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra within its Z Fold 7, and Honor has gone all-in on high-res auxiliary lenses. Considering Google’s prowess in the camera department, that’s a little disappointing.

That said, Google could win over fans with its implementation of Android 16, especially if Pixel-exclusive AI features like Magic Cue make an appearance, so it’ll be interesting to see how the launch pans out.
