Google recently launched its highly anticipated smartphone series, dubbed Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold with power-packed features. Still, there are several features that we are not aware of and one of them allows WhatsApp voice and video calls over satellite.
This is one of the advanced features that makes the Pixel 10 lineup the first smartphones to support satellite-based WhatsApp calls. The tech giant announced the feature on its official X account. Google also shared a teaser showcasing a Pixel device receiving a WhatsApp call while connected via satellite.
WhatsApp Call Over Satellite Feature Availability and Conditions
WhatsApp Call Over Satellite feature will be active starting August 28, when the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL officially go on sale.
The feature will enable users in remote areas, where regular cellular networks are unavailable, to stay connected easily. Nevertheless, Google has clarified about some limitations, including that this functionality will depend on compatible carriers and it may incur some additional charges.
In addition, the feature will work only outdoors with a clear line of sight to the sky. Performance may be slower than traditional mobile networks due to satellite limitations.
Pixel 10 Also Supports Wireless Charging Upgrades
Other than satellite calling, the Poxel 10 lineup also supports the Qi2 wireless charging. However, the Pixel 10 Pro XL offers Qi 2.2 with magnetic alignment and up to 25W charging, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold are limited to Qi 2.0.1.
This older version, introduced in 2023, still supports 15W wireless charging and is compatible with existing Qi chargers.
With WhatsApp calls over satellite, the Pixel 10 series enhances communication in areas with poor or no network coverage, while Qi2 support improves wireless charging efficiency. Together, these features make the Pixel 10 lineup a notable advancement in both connectivity and convenience for Android users.
