Google is developing Apple’s new Siri as a customized version of its Gemini model, Bloomberg reports.
The main analysts consider that Apple is behind in implementing artificial intelligence functions. But the company is a great specialist in adopting technologies that, launched later than that of its competitors, end up becoming a reference in the sector for its capacity for usability and accessibility at the user level, a lack that has until now persisted in AI models.
Apple has increased investments in AI using both own and third-party resources. This is where the potential deal with Google that had already been rumored comes in. According to Bloomberg’s editor, Apple would be paying Google an undetermined amount to develop a custom model based on Gemini that allows it to launch the new Siri, its personal assistant. Licensing third-party solutions that are already working on the market and using them in your own applications is the fastest way to get up to speed.
It remains to be seen whether Apple users will accept an AI assistant based on Google’s model or “whether he can reverse the damage to the Siri brand” which in his opinion has caused the delay of the IA version. The new model will be executed in the Apple private cloud serversbut that doesn’t mean that Apple’s ecosystem will suddenly be filled with Google services or Gemini features already available on Android devices.
Instead, Siri will rely exclusively on an AI model developed by Google, which will power new artificial intelligence features for Apple users and within the Apple interface. Gurman added that neither company is expected to make public statements about the collaboration.
Additionally, Gurman stated that the launch of the new version of Siri (planned for March or April 2026) will coincide with the launch of Apple’s new smart display, which will be available in both speaker and wall-mount versions.
Apple also plans to unveil the latest versions of its operating systems at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2026. That’s where the company is expected to bring major updates to its Apple Intelligence ecosystem.
Agreements with other companies such as Anthropic or OpenAI or acquisitions of AI specialists are not ruled out. CEO Tim Cook himself has already confirmed that the brand is reassigning a considerable number of employees to work on Apple Intelligence functions and also that they were open to Buy other companies that speed up the process: “We are open to mergers and acquisitions that accelerate our roadmap.”
