And he’s turned into a popular broadcaster on Fox.
Olsen is currently the network’s second choice analyst after making way for Tom Brady in the top booth.
He has continued to earn rave reviews from fans on Fox’s broadcast.
And the 40-year-old remains a key part of the Carolina Panthers community.
Olsen held his fourth annual Ungala event with wife Kara in Charlotte earlier this month.
The event at Steak 48 on March 10 has become a staple of Olsen’s offseason.
Proceeds go to HEARTest Yard, an organization which helps families of children with congenital heart disease.
Olsen’s son T.J. had a heart transplant in July 2021.
The Fox NFL broadcaster told WCNC-TV Charlotte, “We’re so reminded every time we hold an event about what it means to the community and to our team at the HEARTest Yard.
“The partnership of the community and with Steak 48 opening their doors three years in a row.
“Their staff and the food is incredible. We’re so thankful.
“It’s become a really signature event on the social scene here in Charlotte and we’re very thankful for that.”
The event was attended by former NFL players such as Andy Dalton and Luke Kuechly.
NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Joey Logano were also in attendance.
Olsen announced on Instagram that this year’s event raised over $330,000, the highest amount ever.
A joint statement with HEARTest Yard read, “We are grateful to everyone who participated, whether you donated to the auction, purchased raffle tickets, sponsored a table, or simply attended.
“A heartfelt thank you to our amazing hosts and friends at Steak 48!
“We especially appreciate the Steak 48 team for their outstanding efforts in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests.”
Olsen played in the NFL from 2007 to 2020.
His best years were with the Carolina Panthers from 2011 to 2019.
The tight end was named to the Pro Bowl three years in a row from 2014 to 2016 before going into broadcasting.
