Xbox Cloud Gaming On LG TVs: What You Need
LG has confirmed that Smart TVs running webOS from 2021 to 2025 will receive the new Gaming Portal through a phased software update. Once the update arrives, the portal shows up on the home screen – and the Xbox app is ready to go. All you need is your Xbox Game Pass subscription, a compatible controller, and a stable internet connection. No downloads, no discs, no waiting. The Gaming Portal acts as a central dashboard for everything cloud gaming. You can browse games, launch them instantly, and switch between services inside the same interface. Depending on what you subscribe to, you’ll see a mix of paid and free-to-play cloud-based titles.
For Xbox users:
- Log in with your Game Pass account
- Connect a wireless controller
- Start streaming games immediately
It feels similar to using a console, minus the hardware. LG says many of its recent TVs already come with features meant for gaming, which now work well for cloud-streamed titles too. Some supported models include G-Sync compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium, up to 165Hz VRR, 0.1ms pixel response time (Intertek-certified), and clear MR 10000 certification. These help reduce blur, lag and screen tearing – issues that often affect cloud gaming.
However, LG notes that performance and feature availability will depend on your specific TV model.
Xbox Cloud Gaming On LG TVs: Rollout and Availability
The update is rolling out first in major Indian cities and will continue expanding over the next few weeks. If your LG TV falls under the supported lineup, the Gaming Portal should appear automatically once the update reaches your device.
Do note: A strong internet connection is essential. Cloud gaming shifts the load from your console to the cloud, but it also puts extra pressure on your Wi-Fi.
