Apple is expected to launch AirPods Pro again in the coming months. According to information from journalist Mark Gurman – always well informed when it comes to Apple – the Apple brand plans to launch new wireless headphones. The “AirPods Pro 3″ would be the Californian firm’s next audio project.
In his weekly “Power On” newsletter, Gurman explains that development of this new product “has just begun”. According to the first information available, the headphones would be centered around the health of users. Apple has already taken a step in this direction with the AirPods Pro 2, and Apple would like to go even further in 2025.
As a reminder, AirPods Pro 2 are already capable of functioning as hearing aids. They have received FDA approval on this subject, and are clinical solutions in the same way as medical hearing aids. A real coup for Apple, which has been campaigning for years for an entry into the health market.
AirPods Pro 3: real health objects?
With the next generation of AirPods Pro, Apple would like to go even further. The Cupertino company is reportedly working on two different health sensors for its headphones. The first would be able to measure heart rate, while the second would take care of body temperature.
For now, data collected internally seems to show that the AirPods Pro sensors are less precise than those of the Apple Watch. The gap would nevertheless be quite slim, and Apple hopes to be able to improve its headphones in the coming months to bring them to the same level as the Apple Watch.
Headphones and health: an obvious cohabitation?
If the arrival of such a feature on the next AirPods Pro may be surprising, it is actually not the first time that Apple has taken on such a challenge. In fact, it has been working for several years on a rapprochement between its wireless headphones and the world of health.
Recently, Apple also marketed the Powerbeats Pro 2, under the Beats brand. Wireless headphones capable of measuring heart rate. These headphones are due to arrive on the market in 2025, but their exact release date is still unknown.
It remains to be seen whether Apple wants to market the AirPods Pro 3, equipped with a similar functionality, before, at the same time, yes just after. In addition to Apple, other brands are considering integrating health features into their headphones. This could therefore become the norm in the coming years.
