AN ICONIC Heisman Trophy winner has joined Colorado Buffaloes’ Deion Sanders and Bill Belichick in the college football head coaching ranks.
The college football icon and former Broadway star’s new job comes months after Belichick agreed to become the University of North Carolina‘s new head coach.

On Sunday, it was reported by ESPN that Bowling Green has hired Eddie George to be their next head coach.
The report added that the 51-year-old agreed to a five-year deal.
It will be George’s first coaching opportunity at the FBS level after being the head coach of Tennesee State for the past four seasons.
“I am truly excited to be the head coach at Bowling Green State University,” George said in the news release.

“Bowling Green is a wonderful community that has embraced the school and the athletics department.
“We are eager to immerse ourselves in the community and help build this program to the greatness it deserves.
“I am overwhelmed with excitement and joy for the possibilities this opportunity holds.”
George led Tennessee State to a career-best 9-4 record in 2024.
The Tigers earned a Big South-Ohio Valley Conference co-championship and an appearance in the FCS playoffs.
George’s win total with the team increased each year since 2022.
It was George’s first career coaching job.
George will return to coach in the state where he posted 3,678 yards in four seasons as a running back for Ohio State.
He won the Heisman Trophy in 1995.
George went on to be a star for the Tennesee Titans, becoming the franchise’s all-time leading rusher.

The game of football hasn’t always been George’s number one employment focus.
He has worked as an actor and appeared on Broadway in New York in 2016.
George performed in a seven-week stint of the Broadway musical Chicago, playing the role of lawyer Billy Flynn.
He also has taught as an adjunct professor at his alma matter, Ohio Stat, and Vanderbilt University.
And George has also worked as an entrepreneur and earned an MBA from Norwesetern University.
In January, he interviewed with the Chicago Bears for their head coaching vacancy.
