A week after its launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket still fascinates players. The phenomenon is growing so much that it only took a few days for the title to become the victim of wild rumors. Just like at school, where rumors from the corridors quickly gave rise to false cheating tips for the first Pokémon games, social networks were the ground for funny gossip. Although it has since been established that, no, opening boosters with horny corners does not guarantee the appearance of rare cardsthere nevertheless remain some certainties in this game where randomness dominates.
In terms of solo and PvP confrontations, there are cards that undeniably sit at the top of the meta. Since Pokémon TCG Pocket currently only has one expansion and a few promotional cards to its credit, certain creatures stand out well above the rest and dominate the rest of the collection. Although it is possible to be creative with atypical decks, it is clear that two archetypes work in the vast majority of matches. Whether it’s matchmade games or unofficial tournaments organized by platforms like LimitlessTCG, here are the two decks that will guarantee you victory in the current meta.
No Artikodin / Staross deck
Who would have thought that Ondine’s starfish would take over the competition? The Staross-ex and Articuno-ex combo is so powerful that it is possible to achieve victory in just a few turns. The strategy of this deck lies in pure aggression. With just two water energies, Staross is capable of dealing 90 damage, while Articuno has one of the most powerful attacks in the game. When charged with three water energies, the legendary Pokémon deals 80 damage, as well as 10 damage to all of the opponent’s benched Pokémon: enough to start cleaning up before they even arrive at the active position. Thanks to the Undine card, a few coin flips can be enough to charge these Pokémon in a single turn and leave the opponent no chance. Here is the composition of the deck:
Charizard booster packs include Stari, Staross-ex, and Morgana, while Mewtwo booster packs include Articuno and Giovanni. Ondine is found in the Pikachu booster packs. As for items, additional copies of these cards can be purchased in the store with the currency obtained through the game’s missions.
The Pikachu / Electhor deck
If your current collection is more stocked with electric Pokémon, here is a second deck that performs very well in the current meta. Once again, it’s about banking on maximum damage from the first turns in order to leave your opponent no chance. There are several variations of this deck, but there is one that comes up more often than the others thanks to the versatility of the actions it offers. Pikachu-ex can inflict devastating damage when the bench is full, while Zapdos deals 50 damage for each head-side coin flip. By accompanying these main attackers with Zéblitz, capable of hitting Pokémon on the bench, as well as Wattapik which allows you to paralyze the opponent, suffice to say that this deck is devastating.
Wattapik, Zébibron and Zéblitz can be obtained in any boosters from the Genetic Power expansion. Pikachu-ex and Zapdos-ex can be found in Pikachu booster packs. To obtain Morgana and Giovanni’s supporters, you will have to open Charizard and Mewtwo boosters respectively.
