Apple’s in the news again today with an “Awe Dropping” presentation, during which they revealed their 17th-generation iPhones, the ultra-slim iPhone Air, several Apple Watch models, and the long-awaited AirPods 3. These events always kick off a frenzy of preorders as Apple aficionados scramble to get their hands on the latest and greatest, so we’ll give you a head start here.
What You Need To Know About The iPhone 17
Here’s the skinny on the iPhone 17 from Apple’s event today. The new A19 processor delivers faster performance than ever before, with a six-core CPU, five-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Intelligence array. It’ll ship with iOS 26, featuring Live Translations directly in Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls—very cool. More power efficiency leads to longer battery life and faster charging, with the new phone going from zero to 50% in 20 minutes. The cameras also get a refresh, with the main lens now 48MP along with a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a Center Stage front camera with a sensor double the size of the iPhone 16’s, along with a new square aspect ratio for better horizontal and vertical images. The iPhone 17 starts at $799.
The iPhone 17 Pro is the powerhouse entry, with the new A19 Pro chip delivering what Apple is calling “MacBook-level processing power.” With an aluminum unibody frame and Ceramic Shield on both front and back, it’s massively durable, and the introduction of a vapor chamber delivers better sustained performance and heat management. Three 48MP cameras are on the back, along with an 18MP front-facing lens. The Pro will come in both 6.3-inch and “Pro Max” 6.9-inch form factors. The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099.
Also revealed was the first-ever iPhone Air, a super-slim mobile phone that weighs just over five ounces. The titanium-framed machine is less than a quarter of an inch thick, with a protruding “camera plateau.” It also uses the A19 Pro processor. The back has just one lens, a 48MP Fusion camera system, along with the Center Stage front camera from the iPhone 17. It also does not support physical SIM cards, only eSIMs. Battery life is our biggest question here. The iPhone Air starts at $999.
