The Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights, is a light display caused by charged particles from the sun hitting the upper atmosphere of the Earth. The result is a colorful light show around the North Pole.
However, a geomagnetic storm has magnified the effect, making it visible from further south than usual. This includes quite a few U.S. states that don’t usually get to see it.
