The Emmy Awards are nearly here, meaning your favorite TV shows from the past year may be taking home some well-deserved wins. I guess it’s time to once again start the comedy-or-drama debate about The Bear.

The Emmys eligibility rules say programs must have premiered new episodes between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025. This year’s top contenders feature one from Netflix (the limited series Adolescence), two from Apple TV Plus (Severance and The Studio) and HBO’s The Penguin.

Presenters this year include Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, who will reunite on stage in time for the 25th anniversary of Gilmore Girls. To lead us into spooky season, Wednesday season 2 stars Jenna Ortega and Catherine Zeta-Jones will also be on hand to present.

Comedian Nate Bargatze will host the big show. Here are more details on how to watch it.

How to Watch the 77th Emmy Awards

The 77th Emmy Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 5 p.m. PT (8 p.m. ET). The event will stream live for users with a Paramount Plus Premium subscription. Those who subscribe to the Paramount Plus Essential tier in the US will be able to access the special the following day.

If you’re interested in watching the event via a live TV streaming service, you can try YouTube TV. It carries CBS and comes with a free trial for new customers. Hulu Plus Live TV also carries the network.

With Paramount Plus, you have two plans to choose from: Paramount Plus Essential, which costs $8 a month and has ads, and Paramount Plus Premium (formerly Paramount Plus with Showtime), which costs $13 a month and is mostly ad-free — you’ll see commercials when viewing live TV. All of Showtime and your local CBS station come with this plan.

If you want to watch the 77th Emmys live without cable, perhaps YouTube TV would be the right choice for you. The live TV streamer is $83 a month and features, as our review of the service states, “the best channel selection you’ll find.”

Hulu Plus Live TV subscribers get access to CBS and will be able to watch the Emmys live or on-demand the following day. Hulu Plus Live TV costs $83 a month for the ad-supported tier, and comes with a three-day free trial and access to Disney Plus and ESPN Plus. $12 more a month for the Premium plan will get you the same, but ad-free Disney Plus and on-demand Hulu.
