The Luxeed R7 EREV, unveiled a few days ago in China, marks an important step in the collaboration between Huawei and Chery. Each brought their talents to the table: Chery manages the manufacturing and development of the platform, while Huawei takes care of the software and marketing. An alliance that promises great things like this new SUV.
Things are going well for Chery
Available in two versions – Pro, at around $34,250, and Max, at $39,700 – this plug-in hybrid SUV indeed wants to play in the big leagues. Literally: the vehicle even exceeds the BMW X6 in size! The Max version, a little more expensive, is distinguished by the presence of Lidar, an ultra-precise system for autonomous driving, while the Pro version does without it.
In terms of design, the R7 remains faithful to the elegant line of its electric version: retractable door handles, thin headlights and a slim silhouette with a sloping roof. A new turquoise shade is appearing, ideal for those who like to stand out.

Under the hood, we find a 1.5 liter engine which recharges a 37 kWh battery, allowing an electric range of 251 km. And if you need more, the total range increases to 1,570 km! Good news for long journeys: fewer stops to recharge and less stress on the road.
But that’s not all: the SUV reaches 200 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. Not bad for a hybrid vehicle! The technology doesn’t stop there. Huawei has integrated its Qiankun 3.0 system, a driver assistance suite that includes autonomous navigation and smart parking. Concretely, the car can park itself. No more cold sweats to squeeze into a narrow space.
Inside, it’s great luxury. Heated, ventilated and massaging seats, 15.6-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch digital dashboard: everything is designed for comfort. The front passenger even benefits from a “zero gravity” seat adjustable in 18 directions, with heated leg rest and massage function. A cocoon on wheels.
With the Luxeed R7 EREV, Huawei and Chery are not just offering a new SUV: they want to completely redefine what a hybrid vehicle can offer, at least that is the ambition of the two thieves. Will they succeed? The answer soon with the first deliveries.
Huawei wants to go beyond Cherry and provide the Qiankun system to models from other Chinese brands, such as Dongfeng and Changan. In the meantime, it’s difficult to be choosy: the characteristics of the Luxeed R7 EREV are sure to appeal.
