On Thursday, Huawei announced it will release its first HarmonyOS PC on May 19, marking a major step toward building a full-scenario smart ecosystem. Self-developed by Huawei, HarmonyOS is an operating system that is independent of traditional platforms such as Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows, and runs across phones, tablets, PCs, wearables, TVs, and in-car systems, according to the Chinese tech giant. The development cycle spanned five years, with over 10,000 engineers working together with more than 20 specialized research institutes, according to Zhu Dongdong, president of Huawei’s tablet and PC product line.
