Even after the ban back in 2020, Huawei has still been strong and has been coming up with several innovations. They launched the Mate X Fold Ultimate, which was the first-ever tri-fold phone. They also launched the Huawei Pura X 5G, which is a first of its kind flip phone. Now, it looks like they are gearing up for a major innovation in the laptop space. Huawei is rumored to launch their first foldable laptop, potentially called the MateBook Fold Ultimate Design. This would mark Huawei’s first PC running on its own HarmonyOS, following the software’s debut just last week.

Leaked Details

The new foldable laptop by Huawei could sport a high-end, sleek design with an ultra-thin profile and a leather-textured finish. The MateBook Fold Ultimate Design is expected to come with a Kirin X90 processor which is Huawei’s own in-house chip.  Along with this it is expected to get a whopping 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. So far, the leaked colour option is a shade called Shadow Black that looks premium.

One standout feature is the large foldable screen, which will reportedly include a built-in large-area linear motor for enhanced haptic feedback. This makes the experience more immersive for users. The foldable PC is also said to simulate keyboard typing, likely making the transition between tablet and laptop modes seamless and intuitive.

Huawei dropped a teaser recently featuring the ‘Ultimate Design’ branding which adds more weight to the rumours. While the brand hasn’t officially confirmed the product name or full specs, the leaks and teasers strongly hint that Huawei is ready to compete in the foldable laptop market.

Currently, only a couple of foldable laptops like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold OLED are available globally, so Huawei’s entry could shake things up and push the boundaries of innovation further. The most interesting part to see would be the use of its proprietary HarmonyOS and Kirin chipset combo.
