Huawei announced yesterday that HarmonyOS games will make their debut at the 2025 ChinaJoy expo, China’s largest gaming and digital entertainment event, which will take place between August 1 and 4 in Shanghai. The announcement signals major progress in Huawei’s building of an independent HarmonyOS ecosystem, as its HarmonyOS 5.1 version drops Android compatibility to focus entirely on HarmonyOS-native applications. Currently, popular titles such as Tencent’s Honor of Kings are already available in HarmonyOS versions, while miHoYo’s Genshin Impact has entered beta testing. Huawei is also expected to showcase gaming experiences across multiple devices at the event, including its foldable smartphones and the MateBook Fold PC. [Huawei Weibo, in Chinese]
