Huawei outlined new developments in wireless network automation at a media roundtable during MWC Shanghai 2025, highlighting its push toward higher-level autonomous networks. Eric Zhao, vice president and CMO of Huawei’s wireless business, said the company is advancing “multi-agent collaboration” to help telecom operators move toward Level 4 autonomous networks.

Huawei reported that since introducing AI agents to wireless networks a year ago, operators in China and abroad have deployed them for fault detection, congestion management and energy efficiency.

While operators are facing integration challenges with complex OSS platforms and lack of coordination across different AI agents, Huawei is proposing an “Agentic” framework to coordinate multiple agents, translate business intent into network actions, and simplify connections across vendors. The company also called for industry-wide standards through 3GPP and TM Forum to support this approach. [TechNode report]
