Huawei has introduced the FreeClip 2, a new pair of open-ear earbuds that aim to blend comfort, style, and smarter audio tech into something light enough to forget you’re wearing.
Each earbud weighs just 5.1 grams, making them among the lightest open-fit buds on the market and very much designed for all-day use.
The FreeClip 2 keeps Huawei’s distinctive ear-clip design, but this generation focuses more on comfort and versatility. Instead of forcing a left/right orientation, the buds use self-adaptive audio channels, so you can wear either side on either ear.
Huawei is pitching these as earbuds you can treat as both a listening device and a fashion accessory, with four colour options including Blue, White, Black, and Rose Gold. The Blue and White variants even feature a denim-textured finish for a softer, more lifestyle-driven look.
Despite its small size, Huawei has packed in a surprising amount of hardware. A dual-driver system and an upgraded NPU AI processor deliver stronger bass, clearer treble, and smarter adaptive features.
According to Huawei, the new chip offers 10x the computing performance of the previous model and powers extras like adaptive volume, real-time awareness, and voice enhancement in noisy environments. A three-mic setup and multi-channel noise-cancellation algorithm also help keep calls clear, while reverse sound-wave leakage control maintains privacy.

The earbuds are rated IP57 for dust and water resistance and offer up to 38 hours of total battery life with the charging case, positioning them as open-ear buds that aren’t limited to indoor, low-movement listening. They’re meant to survive workouts, commutes, and everything in between.
Alongside the FreeClip 2, Huawei also announced several other devices: the Mate X7 foldable flagship, the MatePad 11.5 S tablet with a PaperMatte display, the premium Watch Ultimate Design in Royal Gold, and the WiFi Mesh X3 Pro, a Wi-Fi 7-ready mesh system with a sculptural look inspired by “sunlight on snow.”
The Huawei FreeClip 2 will be available from 21 January for £179.99 in Blue, White, and Black, with a Rose Gold variant arriving later.
Huawei is also opening orders for its new devices earlier in the month: the MatePad 11.5 S will be available from 15 January, starting at £349.99, while the Watch Ultimate Design in Royal Gold will likewise go on sale on 15 January for £2999.99.
