Hyprland 0.49 released on Thursday as the newest version of this unique Wayland compositor project.

The Hyprland 0.49 release brings Android/iOS/macOS-inspired pop-ups to ask for permission to take a screenshot and other controls. Hyprland 0.49 lays out the initial permission management infrastructure but for this initial release is disabled by default. In any event a nice feature to look forward to moving ahead for greater control and security/privacy around your desktop.

The Hyprland 0.49 release also adds xdg-system-bell protocol support for handling any system bell behavior per Wayland protocol standards and also the xdg-toplevel-tag protocol useful for Chrome and other purposes with the new top-level tag protocol.

Hyprland 0.49 also brings support for optionally allowing keybinds to be disabled per-device, new socket2 events, new window rules, and other changes.
