The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued multiple recalls last week, including notices forr more than 145,000 Hyundai vehicles with a charging problem.

Stellantis recalls Jeep Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L due to improper vehicle speed
Stellantis, Chrysler’s parent company, is recalling 7,198 of its 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L vehicles.
The car company said in the NHTSA report that a software glitch in the instrument cluster could cause the speedometer to display the wrong vehicle speed.
Driving without knowing the vehicle’s speed increases the risk of an accident, the report said.
In addition, the government agency said these vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 101, “Displays and Controls.”
To resolve the problem, dealers will inspect and update the instrument cluster software free of charge as necessary, the report said. Recall notification letters are expected to be sent before December 17. Owners can contact FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403. The FCA number for this recall is B8B.

Fisker recalls Ocean due to transmission error
Fisker recalls 7,745 of its 2023-2024 Ocean vehicles
The car company said in the NHTSA report that the transmission may not shift into the desired gear. This could cause the vehicle to roll away while driving or reversing, the report said.
Rolling a vehicle increases the risk of an accident or injury, the report said.
Fisker released a free over-the-air (OTA) software update on March 11, 2024, the report said. Owners can contact Fisker customer service at 1-844-347-5371.

Honda recalls motorcycles due to defective fuel pump
Honda is recalling 40,481 motorcycles.
According to the NHTSA report, the fuel pump impellers may not be properly formed. This problem can cause them to deform and result in fuel pump failure, the report said.
A fuel pump failure can cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash, the report said.
To resolve the problem, dealers will inspect the fuel pump module and replace it if necessary, the NHTSA report said. This service is provided free of charge. The recall letters are expected to be mailed before January 6, 2025. Owners can contact Honda Customer Service at 1-866-784-1870. This recall is an extension of NHTSA recall number 24V-113.

Kia recall due to loss of drive power
Kia is recalling more than 62,000 of its 2022-2024 EV6 vehicles.
The automaker is recalling 62,872 cars due to loss of propulsion power due to a damaged charging unit. In the NHTSA recall report, Kia said the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) can become damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in loss of motive power and increase the risk of a crash.
According to the NHTSA recall report, Kia dealers will inspect and replace the ICCU and fuse, if necessary, and update the ICCU software free of charge. The recall letters are expected to be delivered on December 13 and owners can contact Kia customer service (1-800-333-4542). The NHTSA notice states that this recall expands and replaces a previous recall (24V-200). If your vehicle was repaired during the previous recall, you will need to have the new maintenance completed.

Hyundai remembers
Tucson, Santa Cruz for vehicle rolling
Hyundai is recalling 42,465 of its 2025 Tucson and Santa Cruz vehicles.
The automaker said in the NHTSA report that the console expansion wiring may have been misrouted. This allows the transmission to be shifted out of park without pressing the brake pedal, the report said.
A transmission that can shift out of park without pressing the brake pedal could cause a vehicle to roll away, the report said. This can increase the risk of an accident.
Owners of the recalled vehicles are advised to use the parking brake when parking the vehicle. Dealers will reroute the console expansion wiring for free, according to the NHTSA recall report. Recall notification letters are expected to be delivered by January 19, 2025. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 273.

IONIQ, Genesis on charging problem
Hyundai is recalling more than 145,000 vehicles, including several IONIQ and Genesis models.
The automaker is recalling 145,235 of its vehicles due to loss of propulsion power due to a damaged charging unit. In the NHTSA recall report, Hyundai said the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) can become damaged and stop charging the 12-volt battery, which can result in loss of propulsion power and increase the risk of a crash.
Hyundai dealers will provide free maintenance repairs, including inspecting and replacing the ICCU and fuse, if necessary, and updating the ICCU software, the recall report said. Recall notice letters are expected to be sent out before January 17, 2025, but owners can contact Hyundai Customer Service at 1-855-371-9460 or Genesis Customer Service at 1-844-340-9741. This recall, numbered 272 (Hyundai) and 025G (Genesis), expands and replaces the previous recall number 24V-204. If your vehicle was repaired during the previous recall, you will need to have the new fix completed.
