I used to fight vigorously about Motorola for the non -inspiring software support of the company on its new phones. I did not think that only a few years of software upgrades was sufficient, especially given that companies such as Samsung and Google offer 7 years of updates, even on their midrange telephones. Yet it did not stop me from loving and recommending Moto devices, which are constantly some of the best smartphone values.
However, I started to come. I still wanted Moto to make more difficulty promising more years of support, but I realize that it is not a concern for most Motorola buyers. Whether it is also possible if the company can keep its phones at fixed prices by offering less support, but I do not give Motorola a complete pass. Motorola may know what it does with its matte software -support, but that doesn’t make up for a few telephones in the company’s line -up.
It’s hard to argue with the value of Motorola
The prices are excellent, especially for sale

I may disagree with the first MSRP from Motorola on certain telephones, but there is no doubt about the equipment of the company quickly becomes excellent deals for carrier discounts or regular sale. I recently assessed the Moto G Stylus 2025 and I think Motorola has done enough to justify a price tag of $ 400. Yet the phone becomes one of my favorite budget devices of the year when it is inevitably for sale for $ 275. Although the hardware is solid, the difference in price is. I enjoy recommending telephones such as the G Stylus and Moto Edge because they offer a flexible user experience for less, and if skimping on software support is the direct compromise that keeps the costs low, I will live with it.
Midrange and budget buyers are not worried about software.
It is also not as if we are missing something exciting. Moto’s Hello UI is a considerable experience, and I like that Motorola is one relatively Stock Android experience. However, the company has never been paramount in releasing new Android functions, and while you usually get the promised amount of updates, you are not waiting. Motorola is notorious to free it out of updates, and bi -monthly security patches quickly become three -time or longer. Motorola has never been punctual with updates and customers don’t seem to give it.
People buy Motorola for something else
Not everyone cares for software

Midrange and budget buyers are not worried about software. They want a decent, flexible experience, but for the right price, software support does not take the purchase decision into account. I have heard of countless Motorola owners who don’t care about supporting the company’s anemic software. The answer is usually comparable: they just buy another in two or three years. It makes sense, because that is a typical upgrade cycle, and it is when the telephones were paid off via a carrier deal, just in time to jump in again. Why would it decide whether you get the phone for considerably less and trade it in before the support has risen?
I also encountered a different type of Motorola buyer. They were someone who used to buy the cheaper Samsung Galaxy J-Series devices and maybe an A-series phone, but switched to Motorola. I couldn’t tell you the software update policy about those older Galaxy phones, but I know they didn’t get any monthly security patches for 7 years. And although I think it is my job to explain to people whose profession cannot talk about smartphones, that software support is important and that they are entitled to it, it is not my place to tell people that they cannot enjoy their smartphone because it will not be updated in 5 years.
Motorola still has a responsibility at higher price points
I don’t understand the Razr -Uultra

Although I have decided to give Motorola a pass on his budget and midrange telephones, that does not apply to his premium offer. There is zero Excuse for Motorola to promise Android upgrades for only three years on its upcoming $ 1,300 Moto Razr Ultra 2025. It is offensive to calculate that type of money and to fit a telephone with various future-proof specifications, just to not follow the expected software support. Customers who pay flagship prices earn a flagship experience, and in 2025 that means getting at least 4 or 5 years of Android -upgrades and security updates.

It is difficult to consider Motorola as a tail with cash, but sometimes it seems. Of course, paying engineers to keep software updated and optimized on different class equipment costs money, but we are not talking about a company that launches telephones on Kickstarter. It is also what the bloatware we used to get frustrating on Moto Budget telephones. Desperate companies do that to generate income; Such tactics must be above Motorola, and I am happy that the company has left its recent phones from the aggressive bloatware.
I am still torn after all these years
Closing peace with the matte software support from Motorola is not easy for me. Whether a device costs $ 1,300 or $ 300, I will always feel frustrated. Yet I can only make people aware that better support is if they want it, but it is up to every buyer to determine if support is really that important. All in all, the hardware of Motorola is fantastic price -quality ratio, especially at Carrier -Deals, and I would not like to see people missing to save money on great phones due to a lack of support.
