MOTOROLA’S Razr phone is back – but this time the noughties mobile icon has been reborn as a hi-tech foldable smartphone.
The retro blower was a smash-hit when it launched more than 20 years ago.
And very soon, you’ll be able to buy a modern reimagining of it: the Motorola Razr Fold.
The mobile giant unveiled the gadget to pay homage to the classic device, but has stuffed it with the latest tech – including a giant 8-inch screen.
It 2026 Motorola Razr Fold was announced this week in Las Vegas, and will be landing in stores later this year.
The gadget is a throwback to 2004’s Motorola Razr V3, which was a clamshall mobile that became a commercial and cultural mega-hit.

It became one of the best-selling phones of the age, but was eventually sidelined by the advent of smartphones – including 2007’s Apple iPhone.
Motorola’s Razr line was eventually revived in November 2019 (although they didn’t go on sale until February 2020) with a new series of clamshell smartphones.
Motorola has since released several Razr phones, but the latest model announced this week is the first to have a true foldable phone design.
That means it flips out to reveal a huge concealed tablet-style display.

The new model has a 6.56-inch external display, but opens up like a book to reveal an 8.09-inch 2K LPTO screen.
Motorola reckons you can use this as a “spacious canvas for work, creativity, and play”.
It comes in two posh colour options – PANTONE Blackened Blue and PANTONE Lily White – and supports the Moto Pen Ultra stylus.
It’s also got a powerful main camera that uses a triple-lens system.
That includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA snapper, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide and macro shooter, and a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto lens.
There’s also a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the outside, and a 20-megapixel internal camera for when the foldable mobile is opened up.
Sadly there’s no confirmed price or release date yet.
MOTOROLA WORLD CUP PHONE
As a bonus, Motorola has also unveiled a special footie-themed phone.
It’s called the Motorola Razr Fifa World Cup 26 Edition, in celebration of the upcoming World Cup this summer.
The mobile comes packed with exclusive wallpapers, a ringtone of the official tournament theme, and a Fifa watermark that you can add to the bottom of your photos.
There’s a titanium-reinforced hinge, IP48 protection to keep off the rain, and a decently sized 4,500mAh battery to “keep fans powered from kickoff to the final whistle”.
It also has a World Cup-themed exterior, and is set to go on sale in February.
