IKEA is launching a big smart-home refresh, with 21 Matter-compatible lights, sensors and controls that aim to make setup easier, work with more platforms, and keep prices low.
In the UK, the new KAJPLATS bulbs and remotes are priced between £4 and £9, while five new sensors range from £5 to £25.
IKEA is rebuilding the range so it plays nicely with other brands via Matter. You’ll still use a hub, with DIRIGERA acting as the certified Matter controller and bridge, which means your older IKEA gear can stay alongside the new pieces. The lineup leans on three building blocks most homes start with, namely lighting you can shape room by room, sensors that add useful automations, and simple remotes or a smart plug to tie everything together.
Lighting comes first with KAJPLATS bulbs in a bunch of shapes and lumen levels, with white-spectrum and colour options plus dimming. Standard E27/E26 globes, compact E14/P45, and GU10 spots are covered, and there are clear-glass decorative variants if you want the filament look. Compared with the old TRÅDFRI bulbs, there’s a wider brightness range and more colour options, and the standard bulb is now £5, down from £8.

Sensors are where everyday convenience shows up, with a motion sensor for halls and porches, a door/window sensor that can flip lights on when you open a cupboard, a temperature and humidity sensor, an air-quality unit that reads CO₂ and PM2.5, and a small water-leak puck for sinks or appliances. Pair any of these with the lights or the smart plug and you get quick, useful routines without learning a whole new language.
Control stays friendly with two BILRESA remotes, one dual-button and one scroll-wheel, handling on/off, dimming, colour changes, or scenes, and you can get colourful three-packs for spares in different rooms. The GRILLPLATS smart plug lets you cut power to a lamp or small appliance and also tracks energy use. Since everything is Matter-ready, you can add these pieces to Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings alongside your existing kit.
