PATRICK Mahomes is just as much of an icon at Texas Tech University as he is at the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before his already legendary NFL career began, Mahomes spent three years at Texas Tech in college.

The quarterback starred in Texas from 2014 to 2016 before being taken in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mahomes, 29, has had hundreds of teammates over the years in pros and college.
He was impressing pro scouts during the 2016 season on his way to the top.
That same year is when Giovanni Pancotti was part of the Texas Tech setup.
The offensive lineman was a freshman and part of the scout team for the Red Raiders.
He played once in the 2017 season after Mahomes had left for the NFL.
And Pancotti played three times in his sophomore season in 2018.
Unlike Mahomes, the offensive lineman didn’t make it as a professional football player.
But he majored in management and has gone onto a very different career.
According to his Linkedin profile, Pancotti is now an accounts manager in Houston, Texas.
He has “ex-D1 athlete” listed on the profile and his time studying at Texas Tech.
Pancotti was also recruited by WWE for tryouts for the NXT brand.
The former offensive lineman is still an assistant wrestling coach on the side of his main job.
After leaving Texas Tech in 2019, Pancotti went on to achieve a master’s degree at the University of Houston.
He was a full-time student athlete for two years and had a 3.7 grade point average, according to his Linkedin profile.
Pancotti also wrote, “I bring discipline, hard work, and time management skills from my five years as a highly successful student athlete and a proven ability to work across diverse backgrounds to achieve a shared goal.
“I love working on teams in the sports environment.
“I believe I can bring my strong background in athletics, skills in team leadership and communication, and passion for sports to add value and make a positive, lasting impact.”
Mahomes was spotted back at Texas Tech recently to cheer on their basketball team.
He has gone on to win three Super Bowls before the age of 29 in an already legendary career.
