KNOWN as Mexico’s “hottest model”, Olivia Roa has amassed a huge following with her stunning snaps.

A typical Gen Z girl, she describes herself as sassy, intelligent, cultured, and a bit posh – with a high sense of self-worth – and her DMs are flooded with fans desperate to take her out on a date – but the stunning 23-year-old will never be able to find real love for one reason.

Olivia – dubbed Mexico‘s “hottest model” – is in fact, an exquisite product of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with such realistic images that her adoring fans are happy to believe she’s a real human being.

She is the face of the rapidly changing world of online influencing – with more and more brands turning down real women in favour of AI-created models.

She’s also an example of how AI creations are impacting real-world dating, with Gen-Zs completely besotted with the stunning bots, regardless of the fact that they are pixels rather than flesh.

Inside her digital world, Olivia does everything a real human would – posing for her 25,000 followers around the world in designer outfits.

She goes to restaurants, travels to exotic destinations – and even replies to messages from her adoring fans.

Professionally, Olivia is a content creator and beauty editor who works within the fashion and trends industry – earning a whopping £6,000 a month, or £72,000 a year, just to look pretty.

She is designed by the Clueless Agency – an artificial intelligence company that is redefining the modelling industry with hyper-realistic avatars.

And she is managed by Troop Mexico – a leading media company managing a cohort of digital AI influencers.

While brands in Mexico know she isn’t real, social media users have shown a strong desire to “meet her” in the physical world.

Some fans even comment on her posts, saying they have seen her around in real life, highlighting the extent of AI technologies.

Diana Nunez, the co-founder of Clueless Agency, told The Sun: “People really want to meet her in the physical world.”

Gen-Z takeover

Diana explained how creators designed Olivia to be “very aspirational and Gen Z” to connect with younger generations.

Andrea García, Clueless Aigency‘s creative director, adds: “She is a young editor who has her life together.

“As a Gen Z girl and a Virgo, she has a personality described as sassy, very intelligent, cultured, and a bit posh with a high sense of self-worth.

“Her entire aesthetic is characterised as clean and polished.”

Diana said the focus on Gen Z was deliberate.

The creators believe it is the generation that is most prepared to adopt and integrate AI characters into their culture – in a way that could shape future generations.

She says: “It is the generation that grew up with technology at a more advanced level.

“Like most of our characters or influencers, Olivia appeals to a younger demographic.

“With the influencer culture, we wanted to reach more to a younger audience who are a bit more posh, high-end and are very aspirational in life.

“Gen Z are the perfect target audience because not only are they technologically advanced to understand the nuances of AI, but they are also very keen to try out new things.

“And that is the reason why we created Olivia as a leading Gen Z influencer with personality traits that would resonate with this younger demographic.”

Gen Z, the first generation to be raised in social media’s prime, thrives on aspirational, high-end content – and wants to get the best of AI.

And a growing body of research shows that Gen Z use digital avatars for identity, self‑expression, socialising and shopping.

More than 76 per cent of metaverse users in the US, UK and China say that their avatars are better at conveying individuality compared to the real world, according to a report by Wunderman Thompson.

These reports show how the minds of Gen Z are being captured by the identity of digital personalities.

However, Olivia has been created for commercial opportunities and has an active social media presence on Instagram under the handle Olivia Roa.

Unlike earlier AI influencers, Olivia was introduced when the public was more familiar with the concept, so her AI identity is clearly communicated in brand collaborations.

But there is a dark side to the rapid rise of AI – and it could leave Gen-Zs lonelier than ever, experts say.

Rise of AI girlfriends

AI and digital avatars have sparked fears in the world of dating – and how it’s impacting generations of young men.

Demand for these chatbots has surged over the past year, with more than three billion Google searches for “AI girlfriend”.

The online market is flooded with apps offering to hook you up and is now worth £2.1billion a year.

Today, a tailor-made virtual girlfriend can be yours for between £5.50 and £75 a month.

AI girlfriends offered by apps such as Replika and Eva AI are completely customisable according to the users’ needs.

Customers can tailor their personal bots, adjusting everything from the colour of their hair to the length of their legs.

And for single men looking for solace in these artificial relationships, AI girlfriends can eventually end up becoming the “perfect partner”.

However, fears are growing that these “perfect” AI girlfriends could ruin an entire generation by making single men lonelier than ever – while posing significant risks to real human relationships.

Experts have warned that while the avatars could offer emotional support to some, they may also end up providing an “easy” connection to a generation facing a loneliness epidemic.

‘Perfect’ relationships

Speaking to The Sun, data science professor Liberty Vittert said these virtual girlfriends are blurring the lines between real and virtual companionship.

“AI girlfriends are becoming more like physical beings – they are almost indiscernible from a real human,” she said.

“They look like real people and are shockingly good when it comes to replicating human interactions.”

Artificial girlfriends operate through sophisticated algorithms and AI technologies designed to simulate human interaction and companionship.

These systems allow virtual chatbots to offer realistic and context-aware conversations – and can even gauge the emotional tone of the conversation.

Through machine learning, AI girlfriends can continuously improve their ability to understand what their users want, adapt to individual personalities, and refine their conversational skills.

On top of it, developers design a virtual persona for the artificial girlfriend – with a personality, interests, and preferences.

This persona is integrated into the AI systems to provide an authentic and tailored experience.

Ms Vittert said: “The AI girlfriend is never tired, grumpy or has a bad day, she just gives the users what they need to hear unconditionally.

“It’s always this perfect relationship for lonely single men, which is very dangerous because it further isolates them from real human connections.

“As the technology gets better, people will soon have AI robots to replace human partners – and they will be able to satisfy men both emotionally and sexually.

“And when that starts to happen, married men with kids will begin to leave their families to embrace their ‘ideal relationships’ with AI girlfriends.”

‘Digital avatars are the future’

Diana, who has been at the helm of Clueless Aigency, alongside co-founder Brian Ruben, says digital avatars are the future.

Her company have a collection of more than 15 avatars for agencies to hire, functioning like a traditional supermodel agency.

This includes Aitana Lopez, who is so realistic that people think they have spotted her at the supermarket.

She said: “The future is definitely AI.

“The idea is to create digital avatars for celebrities and influencers who are always in demand and need to multiple places at the same time.

“Digital avatars offer them a solution that is cheap and easy – you can have twice the work without working twice as much.

“At the end of the day, the people are not going to care if it’s AI or not, because the line will not be that distinguishable.”

Amid the rise of deepfakes and advanced generative AI, Diana said her company follows all ethical regulations and legal systems when creating digital personas.

She added: “We at Clueless understand that personal image is something that’s very delicate, and that’s why we have the whole ethical and legal part done right.”

“It is all regulated, and once the client’s contract is done, the clone will be permanently destroyed.”
