Now, the Indian domestic airlines will also be able to provide in-flight WiFi. Recently, the government of India has made some changes to the guidelines that mentioned, ‘in-flight WiFi service will be active only when the electronic devices are permitted.’ The same has been done to make sure that the flight operations are controlled in the most appropriate way along with following the regulations.
In-flight WiFi will be soon available for fliers in India
The Flight and Maritime Connectivity Rule previously stated that mobile communication services on aircraft could only be activated once the aircraft reaches a minimum altitude of 3,000 meters so that the mobile network doesn’t cause any interference on the ground.
The new regulations introduced by the Government of India suggested that WiFi internet services will be permitted once the airplane reaches the mentioned altitude. However, the same also depends on whether the crew will allow the passengers to do the same or not.
