The recently announced partnership between Nutanix Inc. and Pure Storage Inc. aims to meet enterprise demand for an integrated infrastructure designed to support high-performance environments.
Maciej Kranz, GM at Pure Storage, and Gregory Lehrer, VP at Nutanix, talk with theCUBE about integrated infrastructure during Nutanix .NEXT.
By combining the benefits of Nutanix with Pure Storage, customers can deploy and manage virtual workloads while leveraging cyber-resilience capabilities along with agility and control over mission-critical IT operations. The solution is orchestrated for high-demand data workloads, particularly artificial intelligence.
“What we’re doing is we are integrating Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure with Pure Storage Flash Array, which is an integrated part of our enterprise data cloud,” said Maciej Kranz (pictured, left), general manager for enterprise at Pure Storage. “We are integrating it specifically with a use case like cyber, like database, like AI in mind. All of the solutions will be managed and integrated through the Nutanix management platform as well.”
Kranz spoke with theCUBE’s John Furrier and Bob Laliberte at Nutanix .NEXT, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. He was joined by Gregory Lehrer (right), vice president of business development & ecosystems at Nutanix, and they discussed how the joint solution addressed enterprise needs for modernized IT. Co-engineered for integrated infrastructure
The joint solution offered by the two companies was engineered to provide an integrated offering that can deliver sub-millisecond latency across workloads and high uptime on Pure Storage’s independently scalable NVMe platform. It is a partnership based on more than “logo-based” marketing convenience, according to Lehrer.
“When you talk about ecosystem, there’s always what we call the ‘logo walls,” which are useless,” Lehrer said. “Sometimes they create friction, most of the time they don’t generate value. The Pure Storage and Nutanix partnership is based on a co-engineered, co-designed solution.”
A key element of the new solution is flexibility. Nutanix and Pure Storage have focused on providing an integrated offering that provides agility and choice in modernizing data-rich environments, according to Kranz.
“On the Pure side, we now have an enterprise data cloud platform that gives you ultimate flexibility in terms of scale out, scale up, all data types,” Kranz explained. “You’ll be able to manage it through Prism, through the Nutanix management platform. We’re giving customers and partners one plus one equals four instead of just stitching things together.”
Timing played an important role in the unveiling of the joint offering. The virtualization market has evolved rapidly, and both companies realized that their IT customers were seeking simpler, full-stack solutions tuned for performance, according to Lehrer.
“It became super relevant and super timely for Pure Storage and Nutanix to come together now because customers are revisiting a lot of strategic choices for the next five years,” Lehrer said. “That’s why we came together, and we worked so hard over the past few months on this co-engineering because this is what the customer wants. They want ease-of-move, they want simplicity, they want flexibility and they want to be pretty agnostic, which is what this solution is giving them.”
