The news about restructuring, and reduction, Intelthey arrive little by little. Almost with dropper. Only a few days ago the restructuring of its engineering division with new appointments, and the most likely outsourcing of its marketing division to Accenture, which will lead to More layoffs. And these are going to add A good part of the company’s automotive divison employeeswhose closure is already confirmed.

In a message sent last Tuesday to the company’s workers, those responsible confirm that “Intel has plans to close the architecture division for automotive.” It is unknown when the closure will be carried out, but the company has assured that it will fulfill the commitments it has acquired so far.

In addition, Intel has pointed out that as they have already said several times, they are “changing the focus to focus on the main portfolio of customers and data centers and reinforce the supply of products and cover the needs of customers. As part of these changes, we have decided to close the automotive area of our client computer division. We commit ourselves to our clients to make a soft transition ».

Automotive technology is not one of Intel’s main divisions, and the company does not inform about the number of employees it has, or their income. Apparently, as it appears on its website, Intel says there are 50 million vehicles with Intel processors. Its chips, according to the company, can contribute to the impulse of electric vehicles, offer information to drivers and optimize vehicle performance.

Intel also has most of the actions of the Israeli company Mobileye, which develops technology for autonomous cars. It does not seem that the closure of Intel’s automotive group will directly affect Mobileye’s operations.
