Intelligent data infrastructure — the fusion of automation, real-time analytics and AI — is redefining how organizations manage, secure and scale their data environments.
NetApp Inc. is leaning into this shift with a storage strategy built for adaptability, resilience and AI readiness. The company’s latest advances focus on self-optimizing systems designed to handle evolving enterprise workloads with maximum efficiency, according to Sandeep Singh (pictured), senior vice president and general manager of enterprise storage at NetApp.
NetApp’s Sandeep Singh talks with theCUBE about the impact of an intelligent data infrastructure.
“Enterprise storage is just evolving at such a rapid pace,” Singh said. “Ransomware attacks are just on the rise, and new workloads are coming into play, such as AI. There’s compliance initiatives, sustainability, and these are all factoring into the innovations going into enterprise storage, which is really where the need for intelligent data infrastructure is coming into place. NetApp’s contributions are really helping customers get that optimal price performance for every need, for every workload, but bringing all of the intelligent data services to help them protect their data as well as have it AI-ready.”
Singh spoke with theCUBE’s Rebecca Knight and Rob Strechay at the “Architecting Outcomes in the Era of Intelligence” event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, News Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how NetApp has set the intelligent data infrastructure ball rolling. (* Disclosure below.)
NetApp’s intelligent data infrastructure dynamics
NetApp delivers an intelligent data infrastructure through its All-Flash FAS and All-Flash SAN Array series by delivering a self-optimizing, future-ready data fabric. Powered by the unified NetApp ONTAP operating system, AFF and ASA support modern enterprise workloads with agility, efficiency and intelligence, according to Singh.
“Our unified AFF series is ideal for customers for their high-performance file workloads, for their mission-critical VMware and database workloads,” he said. “In addition to that, our ASA series is providing customers that resilient, that high-performance, low-latency storage for their VMware database workloads, and we also provide customers with capacity flash for their tier two general-purpose application workloads. We’re helping customers simplify their end-to-end environment, gain transformational flexibility while enabling them to go faster without compromise.”
NetApp leverages AI and machine learning to deliver proactive, intelligent ransomware detection and response. This multilayered strategy empowers enterprises to detect threats early, contain attacks swiftly and accelerate recovery, enhancing resilience and confidence in the face of ransomware, according to Singh.
“Ransomware is just a very top-of-mind priority,” he said. “ Where NetApp is really helping to change the game and bringing the leadership capabilities is with real-time ransomware detection that is powered with AI and machine learning, and that is happening in a matter of seconds to minutes, not hours to days later. We have this end-to-end automation and orchestration, and the game just continues on from there to data exfiltration, and how do you detect anomalies and detect any type of data exfiltration.”
