When Apple announces a software update for one of his devices, some users must hold their breath. Apple does fantastic work to support hardware years after release, but sooner or later the time comes for every iPhone. Until then, Apple shared the list of supported devices for iOS 26 on WWDC 2025, and a few older models did not cut.
You may remember that Apple has not cut support for extra iPhone models. All the same iPhones that were able to upgrade to iOS 17 could also get iOS 18. Unfortunately, this is not the case this year, because two older models have received their latest major updates. If you own an iPhone XR, iPhone XS or iPhone XS Max, you cannot install iOS 26.

Keep in mind that the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max are on seven years old. It was a matter of time before Apple stopped supporting them. The good news is that Apple Security Updates continues to roll out for older, non -supported models, so although these phones do not get the latest version of iOS, there will be more updates.
Of course we also know that the next line -up of iPhone models will support iOS 26, but we are a few months away from the next generation. Rumors suggest that Apple is planning to debut the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max this fall. We would also not be surprised to see an iPhone 17th next spring.
