APPLE fans may be spoilt for choice this year, as the tech giant plots new cheap and ultra-thin iPhone models, according to reports.

The company might be trying to prove that bigger isn’t always better with smaller iPhone SE 4 and skinnier iPhone 17 Air models.

The iPhone 17 Air model is expected to be released traditionally alongside Apple’s 17th lineup in September – if the rumours hold true.

But the iPhone SE 4 will reportedly be announced as soon as tomorrow, according to several outlets.

iPhone 17 Air

In a new video, uploaded by Front Page Tech, Apple fans can catch a glimpse of what the rumoured iPhone 17 Air could look like.

The new alleged design measures just 5.5mm at its thinnest point.

The renders also show off a new camera bar – reminiscent of the Google pixel lens block that the rival smartphone maker is reportedly axing with upcoming models.

Apple has never placed its rear camera lenses in a landscape bar, and has instead opted for vertical or diagonal designs.

On the left side of the bar, the renders show a single rear camera.

And on the right, there is a microphone and LED camera flash.

The renders are consistent with an alleged iPhone 17 Air shell that surfaced last month.

An iPhone 17 Air suggests smartphones might be trending towards light and thin again, following years of growing bigger and weightier in the hand.

It would be Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, topping even the current 6.9mm record held by the iPhone 6.

iPhone SE 4

Apple CEO Tim Cook has teased an a mystery “launch” on 18 February – which many believe to be for the iPhone SE 4.

It would be Apple’s most affordable model of the last couple of years.

And with stocks of the iPhone SE 3 running low on the ground, according to Bloomberg, it would be the perfect time for a fourth iteration.

The tech giant has not released an iPhone SE since 2022.

The iPhone SE 4, which may also be called the iPhone 16E, is expected to axe the home button and adopt Face ID.

The handset will resemble the iPhone 14, but with a single 48MP back camera, according to alleged leaked images.

It will also store Apple’s newest computer chip, making it capable of running new AI features – like a smarter Siri.

iPhone tricks to try today

Here are some of the best…

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
  • Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen, then tap in the bar and type a currency (like €200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
  • Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
  • Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
