For years, the most repeated story about Huawei – also in this house – has been the Giant injured. A company that had gone from nowhere to play the throne of telephony to Samsung, beaten by US vetoes and forced to reinvent himself, to resist.
What is not said so much – but is obvious in its long 2024 report – is that Huawei has abandoned any interest in competing. It does not aspire to return to the field under the same rules as before. Wants something different: Build your own field, with your own rules, actors and story. A parallel technological universe, self -sufficient and, of course, more and more closed.
The tone of the report touches the belligerent, a “we against the world” that shows us not a company under reconstruction, but to a power moving towards its own ecosystem without looking back.
Huawei It is not building bridges, but cavando trenches. In his report there is no regret for what has been lived, he does not ask to return to Google Play, he does not talk about market quotas in smartphones or invoke regulators. It simply describes the new structure that allows you to exist without all that. A model that does not depend on AWS, or Qualcomm, or Western Apis.
And of course, implications are not just techniques. They are political. Where their networks, their operating system or their cloud extend, There is no integration but Total replacement. Each country that adopts the Huawei infrastructure is not adding an alternative: it is choosing side in the world’s digital bifurcation. On the side where Google does not include and company there is now an attractive proposal for nations tired of American technological hegemony.
Competing implies accepting the rules and going to the same stadium as the rival. Huawei doesn’t play that game anymore. He doesn’t want to beat Google, Intel or Microsoft: he wants to create a world where he is irrelevant. And he is getting it.
