The Investment in you worldwide will reach 5,430 million dollars in 20257.9% more than in 2024, according to the forecasts of the Gartner consultant. The origin of this rise is in many cases in the implementation and preparation of different initiatives and artificial intelligence and generative intelligence projects.

Thus, according to a survey by the consultant held this past spring to 252 senior management directors from different sectors of Western Europe and North America with an invoication equal to or greater than 500 million dollars, 61% identified AI as a key in the future of competition for the next 10 years.

For another 64%, competitiveness is the main reason why companies will invest in technology and business changes, in an environment in a certain decline. Indeed, since the beginning of the second quarter of 2025, what is known as “pause for uncertainty” has been produced, which has meant a strategic suspension of new net expenditure in different sectors, including investment in you.

This pause has its origin in the increase in economic uncertainty and geopolitical risks, and in response to this, companies are acting more cautiously throughout the world. In addition, organizations try to minimize the negative effects of both phenomena.

Therefore, this pause does not have its origin in a budget cut, since they are still assigned, but obeys a strategic decision to delay new expenses. Hardware to IT infrastructure hardware are the most affected by Price increase and supply chain interruptions. But continuous or recurring expenses, such as cloud and managed services, are having more stability.

Thus, 61% of the companies began 2025 in a better position than they had at the beginning of 2024, but only 24% expect to end the year exceeding the plans and objectives they had for this year. This opinion is a constant in companies from all sectors.

According to those responsible for companies, the greatest risk for companies and their growth is in economic crises for 41% of those surveyed by Gartner, while for 32%, the highest risk is presented by geopolitical crises. In spite of everything, those responsible for companies believe that customer pressure, competition and regulation can successfully manage.

According to John David Lovelock, Vice President and Analyst of Gartner«Although there is a pause in the new net expenditure due to the increase in world uncertainty, the effect is compensated by the ongoing digitalization initiatives in the field of generative. For example, the growth of software and services spending is expected in 2025 to slow«.

In relation to investment in data centers, Lovelock points out that these types of facilities are experiencing a notable growth due to generative AI, and expects Expenditure on optimized servers to triple that of traditional servers for 2027.
