And another one! Hollywood thinks she has found the miracle recipe to make video games from successful cinematographic sagas. Mario Bros or more recently Minecraft (unfortunately) were tidal waves, why deprive themselves of counting on the reputation of illustrious licenses to raise green tickets? A singular project has just been announced and it already promises to cause a lot of ink to flow.

A few days before the release of Death Stranding 2following the masterpiece of Hideo Kojima, the company Kojima Productions announces floor on a film. According to Deadline, the project has even already found its screenwriter. Everyone is activated to make it happen in the near future. It’s Aaron Guzikowski, screenwriter of Raised by Wolves which will be responsible for imagining this new chapter of the postapocalyptic universe.

Deepen mythology

Rather than a literal adaptation of the first or second part, the production company is focusing on a completely unprecedented history. It will be a question of following new survivors of this world struck by a series of cataclysmic explosion that has resulted in connecting the world of dead and living.

New characters, new challenges but always the same desire to surprise with a sensitive exploration of survival themes, the animated film seems to be the perfect project for the one that has hatched the excellent series produced by Ridley Scott. The latter says he is delighted to be able to take part in the adventure.

“I love the world of Death Stranding, he is so creative and liberating, so beautifully dark and yet full of hope; I am so excited and honored that Hideo Kojima, whose work I have admitted for a long time, invited me to immerse myself in his creation, to give birth to new stories in this fertile and mind -blowing universe”.

An amazing format

While a project in real views is already in development at A24, Kojima Production put here on adult animation. The firm evokes an approach similar to that of 20th Century Studios for Predators : Killer of Killers. A less realistic aesthetic that could allow players to see the universe in new light. The video game had been applauded for its licked artistic direction as much as its concern for realism in mechanics as much as aesthetics.

It is the Line Mileage studio which will be in charge of hatching this new film. The company has made adult animation its specialty and intends to pay tribute to the imaginary of Kojima. Jacob Robinson (Tomb Raider : The Legend of Lara Croft) and Daniel Dominguez (Six hands) a Brad Graeber (Castlevania) will be involved.

For the time being, the release date is unknown. It is also not known if the characters embodied by Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux will be invited to take part in this adventure.
