SOME of biggest shows on Disney+ will now be free to watch as part of a major deal with ITV.

Favourites including The Bear, Andor and The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives will appear on ITVX requiring no paid subscription.

And some of ITV’s hits will be available to watch on Disney+ in exchange, such as Mr Bates vs The Post Office, The 1% Club and Love Island.

The two companies have signed an agreement to showcase selected programmes on both streaming platforms, starting from Wednesday.

Shows and movies will be regularly refreshed to give users a taster of the other’s content, as both media giants fight to win over more viewers.

A “Taste of ITVX” and a “Taste of Disney+” rail will appear on each respective service.

In the coming months, Brits can expect to find the first seasons of The Bear, Andor and Only Murders in the Building on ITVX.

Selected series of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, The Kardashians, Lilo and Stitch: The Series, Phineas and Ferb are set to land too.

Meanwhile, Disney+ subscribers can expect to find Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Spy Among Friends, Endeavour and Vera added.

Selected series of Love Island, the first series of Karen Pirie and The 1% Club have been lined up for Disney+ as well.

The two companies already work together on a number of shows, such as Disney’s Renegade Nell which can be watched for free on ITVX.

ITV Studios is also the producer behind a number of Disney+ hits including Rivals and the return of dating series Blind Date.

“Disney are fantastic partners with a brilliant breadth of content,” said Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director of Media and Entertainment.

“For us, this deal means even more great content for viewers on ITVX, and even more opportunity for viewers to find and enjoy our distinctive titles and services.”

SWITCH TO FREE STREAMING

By Jamie Harris, Assistant Technology and Science Editor

If you’re tired of paying out on several streaming services then there are a growing number of free alternatives around.

While many of these alternatives have been filled with obscure content, more big names like Sky have got on board in recent years offering some quality stuff, which is largely archive but still entertaining.

As well as UKTV, Sony and 5 are among the other players getting involved.

If you haven’t already, give Pluto TV a go, it’s available on pretty much all devices including Fire TV Sticks.

On there you’ll find channels from MTV, with Catfish and Geordie Shore.

Some of the classics are real gems too – I found myself watching long-forgotten episodes of Sabrina the Teenage Witch the other day.
