What happens on Stuff Your Kindle Day?
Stuff Your Kindle Day is a shopping event where thousands of eligible e-books are temporarily made free to download onto compatible e-readers and Kindles. Stuff Your Kindle Day is not associated with Amazon and instead is led by new, up-and-coming or self-published authors who are keen to get their books in the hands of readers.
Unlike other shopping events such as Black Friday, Stuff Your Kindle Day takes place sporadically throughout the entire year. Plus, each Stuff Your Kindle Day is centred around a different genre, for example Romance or Fantasy, so there’s bound to be an event that’s best suited for you.
When is Stuff Your Kindle Day?
Stuff Your Kindle Day occurs at multiple times throughout the year. As it’s not affiliated with Amazon, the best way to keep up to date on the exact times is to visit some of the author’s websites, such as Indie Author Central.
At the time of writing, there are five more Stuff Your Kindle Days left of 2025:
- 12th – 16th August for Historical Fiction and Contemporary genres
- 16th – 20th September for Dark Fiction

Do you need a Prime or Kindle Unlimited subscription?
No, you don’t need a Prime nor a Kindle Unlimited subscription to benefit from Stuff Your Kindle Day. You actually don’t even need a Kindle, as e-books will be compatible with other e-readers such as Kobo Clara BW.
You should not need to share any credit card details or personal information, other than basic details such as name and email address, to receive Stuff Your Kindle e-books.
